Don't own, but have shot more than a few.

I'd put them on par with a Colt any day of the week.

    No problem.

They're definitely good guns, the ones I've seen/shot, have all been solid performers and ran like a clock. BCM makes some good stuff.

I'm actually torn between them and Colt but since they are on par, i think the next step is the pricing lol.

Either one will treat you right for many years. I can't help you with pricing, but there's always the IP section to ask around in. ;)

No need to get a stainless steel barrel.

Just one of their midlength gas system carbines:

No need for a mid-length gas system either. ;)
All the ARs Ive ever handled were M4s or Stag m4gerys, except for the M16A2 I qualified with, never had or seen a problem with the carbine (Except when a M16 blank adaptor was mistakingly put on it) . Never handled a mid-length, but I didnt notice a difference in recoil "smoothness" between the full-length rifle or the carbines.

Back to the OPs question, never fired one, but the general consensus is that BCM is good to go no matter the flavor you pick.
    My 2 cents...

I went with a full BCM build with a 20" bbl. It's a fantastic rifle. If I can afford the M4, it's probably going to be my choice.

I have a BCM hammer forged 14.5" middy on a CMMG lower. I love it and it shoots great but won't feed steel cased ammo. :(

If you are using irons, the midlength gas system gives you a longer sight radius in the same overall length package.

If one of our IP's can't get it for you, let me know and I'll steer you toward the guys I bought mine from.

I have a BCM hammer forged 14.5 upper with a perm mounted surefire break. It shoots great on my s&w lower but I have a tricked out BCM lower waiting for me when I get home in November. I cant wait to rag on this gun! :party29:
