Stopped by Bass Pro this evening and picked up 2 lbs of Red Dot powder. I was told at 7:00 PM that they still had 1 lb in stock. They are keeping all handgun ammo behind the counter. I asked about 22lr and was told that they received a shipment in this morning and it was all gone. While I was waiting (1 1/2 hours) to get waited on some guy said "yea they had 22lr this morning and I bought 15,000 rounds". I felt like slapping him but I waited so long I didn't want to get kicked out of the store.

f ing bass pro. i would figure with their "retail" prices, they would limit those to look out for their retail customers. do they still keep the powder bottles still on display or do you have to go ask...I walk through the gun section VERY quick bc was with wife and baby, but even my wife was shocked that all of the guns except for couple cowboy action revolvers and couple kimbers...all were gone...crazy

I called them this afternoon and they said they had no powder in stock... sigh...

What gets me is they still have the stuff sitting on the shelve that you take and ask for behind the counter. The old lady was going to go ask for some the other day and I just said dont bother.

They were limiting to two boxes the other day, and this morning. The guy was just being a tool.

Bob had lots of powder about a week ago.

Yeah, they can limit, but it's still "per person". Last time I was at the Arundel Mills location, (3 box limit per person posted) a guy and his entire family beat me to the .308 and walked out with all 20 boxes they had just put out minutes before.

Sucks, but that's the way it is.

I gave up on Bass Pro, waiting an hour just to ask if they have primers was really annoying.

BPS has about the crappiest service of any place I've ever been. Where else would anyone wait over an hour to get waited on? Hire some people for God's sake. I bought an AR there one time and it took over an hour starting from the time I got waited on. They have got to be the most paranoid FFL in MD. With my back issues and slow computer skills it was more than I'll ever go thru again. It was an impulse buy and a good deal, but never again.

Bass pro has the worse pricing as well. Everything on their website is overpriced. I used to use Bass Pro when they were mail order only back in the day - but now I try to do as little business with them as possible. I ordered sone brass off of them a couple weeks ago, since I had a gift card that I needed to burn up. Using the gift card, the price was the same as buying that brass from anywhere else.

I think this is a practice with most of these places. I was at Kittery Trading Post some years ago. I wanted to buy a 7-30 Contender barrel and dies. Two guys (employees) were lounging around the counter. As I approached ,they bolted away. I yelled I needed to find a fire alarm and they both stopped instantly! I aked to see the manager of that area andhe promptly appeared. The 3 of them were P.O.ed by my action. BUT I did get the barrel and dies! The manager escorted me to the cash register and asked if I had intentions to return. "NOT at these prices and waiting times" was my reply. There are plenty of "workers" at these places, but they are told to let the customers WAIT to make up their OWN minds. Lawsuits cut deep into the profit margins.
