I had a good time. First time I've had a table at a show. Left with net positive cash which is a nice change. :D

It was great seeing you again after 20 years, and that you remembered our Russian friend. Saw Squaregrouper as I was heading out as well as whoever was manning the MSI booth. Nice to see you are still getting around well and sharp as ever, and feel kinda bad you are going to be where I was when we stopped meeting up.

I have a Remington 12 just like the one at the show. Has the Octagonal barrel.
I bought the Remington M552 speedmaster. They are nice and have one already. They will about eat any ammo you feed them. Also got the older but new looking J.C. Higgins M29 semi auto tube fed.

I saw the 12s and the Winchester 61s at the end. One modern gun that tempted me was that Henry pump-action .22 for $450 and now I'm kicking myself for not getting it.

JC Higgins 29, 30, and 31 are more or less the same rifle, I have a 30 and really like the Midcentury vibe of the whole thing.

Aside from the deal on the Lyman #17A globe sight, picked up some 1911 magazines that could use some cleaning and half a box of USGI .45 ACP from the Mad Men era (1962).

Its not so much a gun show as a yard sale or flea market with only cool stuff. Was very glad I went.

Good show today, good to see and meet a few members. I introduced my daughter and son in law to their 1st show. They enjoyed the event and looking forward to more shows.

This swap meet/flea market type gun show is my favorite. Little to no retailers, just guys and gals getting rid of stuff they no longer need.
Just before the long gun transfer law went into effect, @welder516 hosted a similar MDS event at his shop.

Actually, there were 3 retailers that I know of. But they didn't have signage. All good folks. All 3 have been at most of the shows in the last few years.

Been looking for shot shell primers for a while now and nobody had them in stock. Went to the show and found a box of 1000 {Federal 209A) for $65. Went home happy.

A throwback to the past , in a Good Way .

The next closest in spirit that I've attended in Maryland was one at the American Legion in ( I think it was Edgewood ? Art3 knows ) .

Pre Covid , Jarrettsville VFW had a bit of the flavor . ( The new " gun show guy " at VFW is trying to build it back up .)

If you're up for a little road trip on a Saturday, there's lot of small local gun shows in Pennsylvania. I know people who regularly check listings and hit 2 or 3 in a circuit. . Myself , I've only stumbled into a couple . The VFD in St Mary's PA was excellent. ( US 30 , North of Washington Co .) The civic center in Lebanon , literally around the corner from Shaydas was better than expected for a Medium size show .

For some reasons , they are not as common in VA or WV as in PA . Probably similar cultural and historic factors why in Penna virtually every small town has a gun/ sportsman / conservation club , but they are fewer in VA and WV .

The key factor is gun show organically put on by a local sportsman or civic group , not a commercial promoter. * For what Iike and some other posters also * If you primarily want the latest ballistic Tupperware, and masses of AR accessories, the bigger commercial shows are your Huckleberry.
