That blowout is really deep in the web/case head area. Case looks more splintered than swollen and burst. Perhaps bullet setback and a brittle case. Would explain low bullet pull weight causing the setback.

"Did it blow where the case was unsupported?"
I don't know. It would seem that it let go at the feed ramp, but if it blew out of battery, it could have been anywhere.

Pull the barrel and drop that case if to see if the blow out conforms to the feed ramp area.

Any idea how many times that case has been reloaded?

It DOES happen, just not common unless someone butchered the barrel. .45 ACP is a pretty low pressure round.

I suspect that this was the first reload for this case. I try to separate by once fired vs many times fired and I think that this was from once fired pile.
I would not have loaded it if I had seen the head stamp.
I will see if it drops in the barrel when I get a chance.

I have read elsewhere and do the following: "I throw A-MERC away."

how can i like have u guys send me notifications when someone replies, these topics r fun lol ?

I'm not known here as a super serious person here but I fail to find humor in someone nearly having the side of their face blown off. Maybe it's just me though.
