Backyard Smelting: Brass

Hi,
Does anyone in Washington, Allegany, or Garrett county do small scale smelting? I need a brass rod about 2" x 6" long, and have a lot of scrap brass. I priced brass rod the size I am looking for on-line, and let's just say, forget it.
If anyone can help me out, please PM me. I can pay with brass, beer, or $, whichever works best.

I have a smelting furnace, but I don't have a ceramic crucible to do brass, how much does a rod the size of what you are looking for cost?

I'm probably too far anyway I'm near Baltimore.

Thanks, I never saw prices like that. The search I did pulled up a 2" x 12" 360 brass rod for 250.00. I said the heck with that and stopped looking. I would like to learn about home smelting though, preferably from someone close by. You can never know enough.
