    A H.M.QUACKENBUSH SAFETY CARTRIDGE RIFLE IN 22 CALIBER. THIS RIFLE HAS THE HEAVY ROUND ~3/4 INCH BARREL THAT IS 18 INCHES LONG. HAS SMALL BLADE FRONT SIGHT AND NOTCH STYLE REAR ADJUSTABLE REAR SIGHT. LARGE KNURLED TAKEDOWN NUT IS PRESENT ON BOTTOM OF FORWARD PART OF FRAME. WALNUT STOCK IS EQUIPPED WITH CRESCENT TARGET BUTT PLATE. BARREL,RECEIVER,FRAME AND BUTTPLATE ARE ALL NICKEL PLATED. WALNUT STOCK IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION .LEFT SIDE OF RECEIVER STAMPED H.M.QUACKENBUSH.HERKIMER.N.Y. U.S.A. PAT. IN U.S.FEB.23.86.JUNE23.96.ENGLAND FEB.23.86 BELGIUM MAR.15.86. RIFLE APPEARS TO FUNCTION FINE. FINISH APPEARS TO BE ALL ORIGINAL. BOLT AT END OF BARREL IS BLUED. THIS IS A SCARCE AND RARE MODEL QUACKENBUSH TARGET RIFLE. IT WAS IN THE ORGINAL BOX AND IM LOOKING FOR ANY MORE INFORMATION ON IT TO INCLUDE: VALUE, HOW TO TREAT/PRESERVE THE METAL AND WOOD.

    New in box/perfect --100% condition - $800

    Add 10% for each of the following: heavy cast iron buttplate, original factory blue finish, optional Town & Country combination rear and front sights, barrel and optional sights where rear sight is approx. 1 in. forward of the breech end of the barrel, and for factory walnut forearm.

    Add 20% for a raised single line curved knurl ring around the barrel in front of the receiver.

    Add 30% for original box.

    Wouldn't do anything to "restore" it as it lower value. Also, might consider it a good mantle piece if intent on keeping it. It was designed before widespread use of smokeless powder. Old powder was more corrosive. If not well taken care of could cause metal fatigue if breach area. Also modern cartridge a bit more powerful. Would get a good informed opinion on specific rifle before thinking about firing it.
