Thought I’d share a new acquisition, this one checks another box off the WWII German pistol bucket list. Brought it home from the Nation’s Gun Show in Chantilly this weekend...Spanish made Astra model 900 pistol that was part of German Wehrmacht procurement during WWII. With only 1,050 purchased, it’s one of the toughest German pistols of the war to track down. These did not receive German waffenamts and are identifiable based on a known serial number range. The group of pistols was delivered to German Army Headquarters in Hendaye, France on March 23,1943. This particular pistol was made in 1941 based on the Spanish date code of “M” on the left side of the frame and it falls towards the end of the known contract serial range. Wasn’t cheap, but thanks to some trade credit from a bargain-find German Contract Astra 400 at the last Chantilly gun show I was able to make it happen. Super happy to have one as they don’t turn up all that often.
