Yeah, instead we should crowd source changing the old Giant in Edgewater into a shop with an indoor range ... Call it "ANNAPOLIS Armory", just to ram it down the lefties throats. I suspect the Lee family that owns the airport is the landlord - still looking for a tenant for that space!

Hey, that's a hell of a good idea! That empty store has been sitting there for some years and might lease cheap.

South County is pretty gun friendly, maybe we should starting for an interested party? :party29:

    Ha!

That was my plan for the powerball jackpot I didn't win. I was going to open the country's largest gun store, right here in the heard of Maryland.

$4 didn't get me far in that dream.

I was thinking the same for southern Maryland since we don't have a public indoor range. Heck the police don't have a place to shoot either.

    +1. I really like that little shop!:D

And Larry always treated me very well. I don't think their volume would support the rent on West St, though.

I'd be just fine if it wasn't on West street. Especially on summer weekends, boat shows, navy games...

I wouldn't use the Armory name. Too many lazy firearm/ammo company lawyers are going to forbade doing business with you then, plus there is already "The Armory" in Va.

I think he is talking about Calvert and St. Mary's. As far as AAPD's range, I was helping fix the roof 15 years ago and it was hopeless. I don't know that it is long for this world.

OMG! I could walk to that range. Add a coffee/sandwich shop, and it would be amazing!:thumbsup:

That's some good real-world simulation. Shoot under stress like your life is actually in danger.

    Which it is.

That's the good old AA County Government. Force the police department to use a worn out old missile site they bought for a dollar for a police academy. No gym so they decided to just use the missile silo (gee, couldn't be anything health hazardous in a sealed underground 1950's missile silo to have people running around and sucking tons of air in could there?). A facility so toxic you can't even drink the water anywhere on the grounds, all drinking water still has to be trucked in.

The only reason they ever built the existing range instead of insisting on using the old pit (literally, just an old pit) was because a stray round landed in a swimming pool in the McMansion neighborhood that got put up behind it. They've needed a new range, and a whole new academy for decades, but the county won't fund it. Oh they'll talk about it and promise, but it never happens. They have more important things to fund like boat ramps, the Janet Owens golf course boondoggle off Fort Smallwood Road, six million dollars for paving walking trails around Annapolis , and my favorite necessary project, an Equestrian Center in Lake Shore for the underprivileged children of Gibson Island. But as usual the police department will get stuck with shit equipment, shit pay, and shit facilities. And then the County Council will whine about why do they have problems getting recruits.

    Okay, rant off....... :)

A current successful IP should open a second location at the former Annapolis Armory.

It would be great to see a Freestate Gun Range South in southern AA Co.

Pretty sure the rent would be too damn high at the West Street location. Its a sucky street visability for where it is too. Its a great location for a nail spa or something for Grandma.

Maybe they dropped a spent bullet in there and called the chief because they didn't like the noise.

Haha, you aren't the first one to ponder that theory either. But it wouldn't surprise me if one really did come from the range. The old range was literally just a pit with post holes dug for shooting posts. Night fire was real night fire, no ambient artificial light, nothing but muzzle blast to line your next shot up with. Figure a couple million rounds a year and some were bound to make it out.
