All three of my local places are charging $100 + 10 to do a transfer.

Just out of principle, I am not going to buy a $100 item (like a stripped lower) and pile on a other $100+ just to take possession of it. Anybody out there willing to do the transfer on two lowers for $50 or less????

I believe some increased transfer fees are to try to hedge demand for the service, and to pay for additional service required due to LONG MSP delays. I've seen some MD FFL's are having to pay for off-site storage which of course costs money, and they get locked into long-term contracts for a potential short-term use.

Call around. Fees everywhere are going up, and I'm sympathetic because:

    - Some FFLs are needing to rent external storage for all the firearms they are now holding onto for 50+ days. Space is money.

    - People are calling FFLs multiple times to ask for status updates. No one is happy about the (illegal) wait, but every 5-10 minute phone call explaining that it's in the MSPs hands is lost revenue. Time is money.

Some FFLs have stopped taking transfers, period, because of the hassle. I hate to say it, but things are only going to get worse until Oct 1. Find an FFL you like to work with who isn't bending you over and give them your business.
