The only common point is to use one piece rods.

Coated or not, your choice. Coated may embed particles that cause wear. Non-coated is metal against metal, but debris wipe off.

But funny that people work about wear, but then use bore paste, which is an abrasive.

Boar snakes can break in the bore, ask Clandestine.

Dewey here. It fits and stores into the 1750 Pelican with its rifle.

With that said, I'm a minimalist when it comes to putting anything through the barrel other than bullets. I'm in the camp that overcleaning the barrel can lead to premature wear or damage, so I don't clean the barrel until I notice accuracy degradation. However, these days I shoot so little... I just don't clean 'em.

I used to feel the same way until I used Lead Away patches with a tight fitting jag and was amazed at how much junk was built up in the rifling and then a noticeable improvement in grouping at 100 yards.
It's a little bit of work but well worth it.
I use a Tipton carbon fiber rod and I'm sure it with be around long after I'm gone.

I try to make a habit of running CLP or Ballistol through bore, slide, and lower receiver after I went to the range. It isn't deep cleaning but helping to keep the carbon away.
