Does an ar15 factory pistol need to be on the MD handgun roster to be able to purchase? Since it's treated like a handgun if built. thanks

If you buy a complete AR Pistol then yes that particular model needs to be on the roster. If you build your own from a stripped lower then it does not.

    Anyone know where this documented?

It doesn't need to be documented.

Only pistols need to be on the roster to be sold here. A stripped AR receiver is an "other firearm" and not a "pistol" because it doesn't have any of the physical features required to make it a pistol. Therefore it doesn't need to be on the roster.

You can make your own pistols as much as you want, because the pistol roster only applies to the legality of buying a pistol in MD. If you make your own, you're not buying one so the roster doesn't apply.

Makes sense, thanks for the clarification

Yes as long as they have not been used in a previous "documented" rifle configuration.

If you build as a pistol first then you have more flexibility. You can go from pistol to rifle and back to pistol again, but you can't go from rifle first to pistol ever. Plus pistol does not need to be HBAR.

How is this not a sbr? Even ic it was a stripped lower made into a pistol once? Or is it a sbr

Not a stock, an arm brace.

But if you put that arm brace against your shoulder, you now have an illegal SBR.
