To translate and expand on the last few posts :
Purchase a Complete Lower , that will probably also have generic collapsible stock .
Remove buttstock.
Install * Pistol Buffer Tube * .
THEN proceed with pistol type upper .
Not totally plug and play , but unscrewing a buttstock is much simpler, and requiring of l r ss mechanical skill than building a lower from stripped .

There is a minority opinion that the " tube portion " of adjustable stock , with " sliding portion " removed is Not a buttstock , and thus legally a " pistol acceptable buffer tube " . Is such assertion correct ? I can't easily , conclusively DISprove it , but knurled pistol buffers are cheap and available enough to not go there .
