is this OK in MD? How can i do it? I already possess it as a pistol.
Engraved???
Yes. Since you are "making" an SBR, you need to have your information or your trust's information engraved on the receiver.
I need a trust??
Thought that was only if the firearm was being sold.
Put a brace on it. No paperwork, no tax, same thing.
And it doesn't require a 29" minimum OAL.
IMO- Since 10/1/2013, SBR's in MD are a waste of time and money.
This is what I have been suspecting of lately.
What makes a brace different than a stock?

It's some vague distinction of a brace having not been designed to be fired from the shoulder.

It says so on the box when it arrives. Seriously. Also, a brace isn't designed to adjust and generally is constructed differently than a regular stock. That's about the only difference.
Times have changed a bit. This one adjusts using a standard carbine buffer tube:

My first AR pistol had a rubber crutch tip. Now I'm upgrading.
Dang, that's slick.

BATFE requires your information engraved on any title 2 (Class 3) firearm created on a form 1.
I believe you are thinking of requirements for building an 80% firearm.
