Ar barrel refinishing

Hey i picked up a used upper and the barrel has a few blemishes any good suggestions to touch up? Also has anyone every hi temp painted a barrel? and if so how does it hold up? Just curious about different ways to make it look like new

Personally, I treat gouges/scratches as marks of honor on my guns, it means I USED them.

Don't know how well hi-temp paint would hang onto parkerizing, I got a feeling it'd do ok, but heavy firing or bumping would likely demolish the paint.

The barrel is not stamped weirdly enough so i am assuming it is a .223.

Hmmm... - I'd have that checked over, just to be safe.


(That and it'd suck to buy something that isn't what you paid for, or in a used barrels case - shot out.)

Check for a 3 digit code up near the chamber area or a letter and number stamping in the same area.

I looked through the barrel it doesn't look to beaten up the rifling looks good still. Still new to ar's so i am not quite sure how to check these barrels. I bought it from a member on here.

Not to hijack thread , But any ideas on a new stainless 308 barrel . Need to dull it down someone said beadblasting outside of barrel any other ideas I COULD DO myself ?

You have an aluminum barrel? Or did you mean parkerized?
