No the time from acceptance to approval is running about 40 to 45 days and the time between those two factors is the only metric that has been an accurate predictor over the long term. The average time has been both longer and shorter but the running average at the time of acceptance has been a good predictor. Yes some people are outliers both shorter and longer but the majority fall close to the average.

It is much better to have reasonable expectations than sitting there like us early submitters who had no data to go on and did not even know what steps were going to happen. Most likely they will get their physical permit in hand about a week after it is approved but the USPS is more variable than the MSP.

I posted so anyone who wants to estimate when to expect things they could. I was the OP for this thread and have looked at all 10,000+ posts as well as the posts in the other related threads so I have some experience.

Was the envelope your permit came in sent from Maryland State Police, or Department of Public Safety?
