I just recieved a Mosin 91/30 from aim surplus and it has these markings on the left side of the reciever on the stock....anyone know what these mean?
I'm pretty sure it translates to: "Kill the Fascist pigs for Mother Russia"
Looks like Hecho in Mexico.
Google "Russian keyboard" enter the letters then copy and paste into a translator. Probably someones name.
The text looks like "ШИШКИН И.". This is "SHISHKIN I." in English
No idea what does this mean. Google finds wiki article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Shishkin ,
though it has no relation to firearms.

I can confirm the text: definitely says "ШИШКИН И."
Shishkin almost certainly refers to the surname, and "I" is most likely an initial for a given name. My guess is that a previous owner left his mark.
Pretty cool that I randomly got one marked like this.
Definitely. Now if only the Soviets had kept better records of their servicemen... *sigh*
