Didn't see a thread for this for this year.

I’ve been spending as much time as I can after work and on weekends. Both my dog and I have lost our fair share of flesh to briars. Some decent finds.

@Doco Overboard i know you’ve mentioned and posted quite a few over the years.

I didn't go this year but my boys picked a literal pile of them.
Some nice WT and tons of Sika.
I think last week one of them picked up about 12 or more between one or two farms' and three more sika in a field that was already walked down by his house.
I did not ask if any were matching from this year.
I didn't think anyone was interested and I haven't been, so I didn't put any up.

Nice haul. Do you find them mostly in bedding areas? If so, what's the best indicator of a bedding area?

Wow. That's an impressive amount! Sika are going to be my #1 target this next season. I put 9 days into them this last year on public and learned a lot, but couldn't connect. Scouted several new pieces of public as well.

Not interested just because you have been doing it for so long? Or you didn't think anyone on here was interested?

Most were on trails in and out of bedding cover. Some in the phrag. I haven't found a pattern strong enough to not just do grid searches, more or less. Bedding areas are typically the thickest, nastiest, thorniest crap that you do NOT want to go through. I'd say 1/5 of my time has been on hands and knees. Here's an example of how thorough I've been in the attached pic

Possible on some handles...powder measures? The small ones are treats for the dog; she found about half of them which was a pleasant surprise.
Drill out the tines for black powder amounts for front stuffers. 40, 50, 60, 70, grains of powder etc. People love horn powder measures.

Sad to hear that. I know that if my knees and back hurt as much as they do now at 38, my outdoors activities are going to be a lot less pleasant in 10, 20, 30 years.

If you ever have time, I'd love to see your piles. PM is fine.

Where I am in MoCo, I've had better luck searching green fields(winter wheat, etc) using binoculars. The binos save a lot of walking. I'd say 80-90% of my antlers have been found in feeding areas. Logs across trails and creek/ditch crossings are good too.
