Hello fellow Marylanders. I am about to send in my app to carry. FYI, i'm a Chiropractor in Baltimore, and I have heard (or is it internet folklore?) of some Chiros getting their CC permit. I have yet to fill out the reason section in the app. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to fill out, avoid or include certain phrases. I also have my Out of state Utah CC permit, should I include that information? Thanks!

Essentially, they might give it to you if you carry your prescription pad with you. I'd stress that line of reasoning. Not sure about the Utah CC permit, but I'm leaning towards no unless asked.

    Chiropractor= No perscription pad.
Probably cash deposits would be the best bet

Cup the balls, work the shaft

    And swallow the gravy!

    That's Option 1.

Option 2: Can you prescribe narcotics? Do you make housecalls? Do you regularly pick up said narcotics from the distributor yourself or personally take delivery? Can you prove all of this through documentation? Do you get a lot of cash payments? If you've answered yes to most or all of these questions, you might be able to get a CCW.

If Options 1 or 2 won't work for you, you're wasting your time and money. I'm guessing that you don't have a murderous ex-wife who escaped from prison.

If you dont carry large amounts of cash for deposit or if you dont write scrips you can pretty much forget about getting a gun permit in md. If you want to donate the hundred dollar bill to state thats fine but I wouldnt expect to get approval.

That won't help you here. That doesn't sound like it would be a "good and substantial reason" to carry a gun in this socialist state.:sad20:
They'll allow you to protect a few hundred $$ or some mind altering drugs, but if you just want to protect your life and your family's.. nah, not good enough.

Even if she did, they might give you one after she attacks you, assuming you live that is.

BUT. You cant actually use the gun to protect your money or prescription pads. Only when they threaten your life.

Yes, very ironic. They will give you (some...) a permit because you sometimes carry money, drugs, or expensive/dangerous stuff for work. But your only legal defense is self-defense, which alone is insufficient to get a permit. How ironic is that?

[some, very few actually do get permits for 'good and substantial' self defense reasons]. Documented death threats seem to be sufficient for a one time (not likely to be renewed, permit).

Maryland should be a 'shall issue' state like nearly every other state in the union. Read the Wikipedia on this issue, pretty obvious what's going on.

    Indeed it is.. :sad20:

Va, WV , Pa , and DE need Chiros too.

So true. I do plan on moving to Green Castle in a couple years to open a practice with my wife.

I actually do have a prescription pad (some one the MD uses) since i work at some multidisciplinary offices but i can only write for orthopedic devices...

Unless your 'script pads have your specific limitation printed on them ... blank 'script pads are blank 'script pads ... just what the junkies want. They are forging the rest anyway.

Just say you are an MD and carry 'script pads and CASH

Won't work. They wanted a copy of my Medical license, and my DEA number.

You have to remember the state of MD views your CCW as a clear and present danger to public safety.
