Just thought I would give a bit of advanced notice so some folks could plan the weekend...the museum is having their open house October 4-5 in Nokesville, VA. Its held at the 'tank farm' which is very entertaining. I have been going for the last two years and they do a lot of armored vehicle demos, year before last they did a flame thrower demo, lots of vets attend, rides for members of the museum, etc. They have loads of static displays from many wars but the stuff from WWII is very impressive. Sherman's, T-34's, BMP's, artillery pieces, lots of WWII weapon displays, people dressed in WWII period clothing and some nice demos, etc. Food, drinks, etc. Their site mentioned new 9/11 stuff as well.

This link is for their website which has a link for you to RSVP if you plan to attend.

For those of you that may want to make it a weekend Prince William Forest Park is just down the road a bit. They have both hookup sites (at Prince William Forest Park RV Campground) and non-hookup sites (Oak Ridge Campground in the park) both of which are very nice. You are pretty close to each other at the RV park due to the hookups but Oak Ridge is very nice and quiet. As some of you may know, Prince Wm Forest Park is where the OSS got it's start as their training center. In fact, some of the original cabins that were used to train the agents are still there and can be rented. Lots of WWII history in the park. Lots of beautiful hiking in the park which will be very nice in October...cool and may see some color change.
