Here are some photos from last years October Event. None of this would have been possible without the support of the AGC Executive Committee, the Charter Club Trustees, some VERY key Project Managers/Organizers, and a couple of handfuls of member volunteers breaking their butts instead of having fun on their weekends.

We had a total of 39 shooters yesterday, 16 of whom are non AGC range badge holders. If you were one of our guests, please consider joining an AGC Club and purchasing a Range Badge for 2020. Things/attitudes towards Action Shooting at the AGC have made a complete 180 over the past 5 years. If we make half the progress over the next 5 years that we made during the last, then the AGC will be the Premier Action Shooting Facility in the entire state of Maryland and I would think that you want to be a part of that.

In addition to having access to all of the ranges/facilities that the AGC has, Range Badge holders are typically given a $10 discount on Action Shooting event fees (it was only $5 yesterday) and they can also earn volunteer hour credits towards the cost of your badge for the following year. There are plenty of opportunities to end up with a Badge for free.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about how to join a club and buy a range badge. I can point you towards the membership chairperson of a few different clubs.

I can’t thank the Associated Gun Clubs leaders, organizers and volunteers enough for all the work they invested to make the first AGC Steel Challenge possible.

Posting an album of pics here to illustrate just some of the fun and crucial skill development we participated in this past Saturday.

In these pics you can also see the amazing results of the enormous amount of work donated by AGC volunteers to create the new shooting bays constructed for events like this.

This AGC site was graded and the empty HESCO units depicted above in post #104 were installed and filled with tons and tons of dirt, becoming the impregnable side barriers in all the pics I’m posting below.

First, a big shout out to all of the many AGC Range Safety Officers who made it possible for each of 4 squads of shooters to run their strings of targets in 4 separate bays simultaneously and continuously, all day.

The AGC RSO’s are knowledgeable, experienced, alert and professional.

Add to that: they displayed considerable agility, athleticism and endurance to stay step-for-step with every shooter:

The RSO’s were always vigilant yet calm, and ready when necessary to offer a helping hand to the shooter if a loading issue or feeding malfunction occurred:

Not only was it a hoot to participate in, it was a fun show to watch.

A considerable assortment of firearms, in a variety for calibers ringing that steel with an audible difference:

    BOOM! (Clang!)

    BANG! (Ding!)

    PEW! (Ping!)

    Lots of action: Load!

Expert shooter here; notice the absolute trigger discipline and muzzle direction awareness before and during transitions to new shooting positions throughout the run of the target string.

    Ready? ... BEEP!

    BANG BANG! GO!

I was the guy with too much hair, too much desk belly, and laughing my way through shooting a Sub2K PCC for the first time. It was nice to meet you!

Likewise. Nice to put another face to screen name. It was a great time. Looking forward to the next one.

Yeah. The volunteers definitely deserve some kudos. My bad for not saying anything sooner. Big thanks to everyone who was involved in setting up the bays, putting on the event, and taking time to score or pull RSO duties. This was my first competition and even though my goals were simply not to get any violations and to finish each round my nerves decided they wanted to come out and play. Everyone was great and I had a blast even though I really didn’t shoot as well as I normally think I do. If you’re on the fence, hop down and come out for the next event.

Another target string, shooting from two different positions behind cover; both feet have to be planted in the white box, with a lean-around to acquire the steel targets.

If you look closely you can see the casings (contrasted against the white barrel background) flying above the muzzle:

    Ready? BEEP!

    BANG BANG GO!

Moving to the second cover - - bang bang bang - - more casings visibly flying.

Red steel target is the final one; ringing it ends the string and stops the timer:

And were worn the EFF out doing it, lol. It's one thing to shoot your own strings with all that running but then do it again 7 - 9 times on almost every stage.

Worth it though if everyone had a good and safe time and will come back to shoot again.
