Had to wait on the sling to come in from Liberty Tree and the ammo pouch from eBay before I could get a picture. Best I can determine they are correct to the time period. Nothing special but I didn’t have one - that is reason enough isn’t it?

When the SVT ammo pouch comes in from the Ukraine, I will get an updated Red Army group photo.

    Love it.

I saw a Norinco SKS with banana mag at Angler's for $700 yesterday. I was intrigued and I really wanted it but I have other financial obligations and had to pass it by.

    Pretty.
I know nothing much about them…have heard of their having a big muzzle flash, and recoil.
The M38 looks very similar, but doesn’t have the attached bayonet, which strikes me as more practical for civilian use.

That looks like a laminate. Is that a heel repair on the stock?

    Clean her and shoot it.

    Range report if you can.

How is the recoil? I heard the carbines can really kick compared to the rifles.

That would be an understatement my friend. I had one for a while but a friend loved it so much I gave it to him. I hope he enjoyed a bruised shoulder more than I did!

    Trepang, that's a pretty one!

The M44 Mosin Nagant doesn't have anything on the Steyr M95/30 when it comes to shoulder-rearranging recoil. One enbloc through the 95/30 is usually enough for one lifetime for most people.
    ^^^I can testify! Truth!

I use a Caldwell recoil pad when shooting my M-44 and it makes a huge difference. I can shoot 50 rounds from a bench, and not have a sore shoulder afterwards.

Hmm - I think my fly-weight Savage 10 in 308 Win has more felt recoil than an M44. That Soviet rifle is HEAVY and in my opinion soaks up the recoil. I have to put a limb saver on my Savage 10.
