Just finally got my hql and my first handgun. Its a hk vp9. My question is that there seems to be a lot of different ammo out there. I was told 115gr is best. Im not trying to win any competitions. Anyone have any input?

115gr is not the best, it's the cheapest, easiest to find, and every 9mm pistol eats it. It's not the most accurate available, and most of it is pretty dirty. I bought 600 rounds of Winchester steel cased ammunition for the break-in of my RIA 9mm. After the first 150, I've found unburnt powder in the action, and it's very loud when fired. It's cheap blasting ammunition.
RIA told me I should be using 124gr ammo in my RIA 9mm after I had trouble with the 115gr not cycling properly. Had to send it back twice to RIA and now it eats anything. I reload 124gr and mostly shoot that now. 124 gn can be harder to find and more expensive than 115gn.
