So I got 1000 gold dot pulls from gunbroker and am going to begin loading them for my stash purposes but I had a question. I currently only have Bullseye powder and my speer manual lists them as a max velocity of around 1080. To really get true performance out of them do I need to push them to the 1200 fps that most +p is rated at? These shot fine with the bullseye and ran fine thru my gun when I loaded up 20 test rounds. Just wanted to know if it would be smart to wait til I could get some different powder to load them hotter since these will be my reserves if the world ends and dolphins learn to walk on land.

Use the max per speer manual... unless the walking dolphins have lasers then you need bigger gun.

The higher the velocity the better the expansion.

If you are making these for SHTF, I would want the extra 200 fps.

You can load them and shoot them with Bullseye, but it is something of a waste to deploy a premium bullet in such a manner. Get some cast 124 gr lead or some cheap plated bullets and load them with Bulls; use HS-7 or VVO3N37 and load the Gold Dots to 1250fps.

Most of the premium bullets are designed for optimal performance within a specific velocity window, and using them outside those parameters markedly reduces performance.
