One of the softer shooting .45 pistols I ever shot was n H&K USP. Not cheap, but SWEET. I may just have to get myself one.
SIG 227. Trust me. Awesome.
Not that it matters, but if you ever plan on using a weapon light, look for a pistol with a built in Picatinny rail or a universal rail like the Glocks.. IIRC the USP series from HK uses a proprietary rail system.
The HK45 and HK45C have built in Picatinny rails.

I'm looking forward to shooting my Glock 41 next week. I'll post my impressions about it accordingly. You might want to check these out as well... Not that expensive...
Grand Power P45
Armscor RIA 2011 Tactical
SAR ARMS or Sarsılmaz ST9 & ST10 45
They sell lights with the correct rail for the USP's.
Streamlight 69221 TLR-3 Weapon Mounted Tactical Light with USP Compact Clamp for example.
While the 1911 has one of the nicest triggers out there, I prefer the double action Glock.
The striker in a Glock is only half cocked when ready to fire. Pulling the trigger finishes cocking the striker and releasing it. Strictly speaking, it could be deemed a DA pistol by some people.
