Just curious to get some opinions on the concealability and practicality of carrying a .45. I've started searching for options and am currently looking at these three models:

    HK USP 45 Compact
    Springfield GI Micro Compact
    Sig P220 Compact

    Other suggestions? Opinions?

    Thanks

Start with what you can shoot well and consistently. Try a variety of models at a range and then narrow down to what you can shoot well, and what would be comfortable for carry based on your needs. If I were carrying a .45, I would carry my Bersa Ultra Compact model, but that's based on my experiences with that particular gun over years of shooting.

Depending on what your body type is and what you intend to wear... I carry my M&P .45 concealed all the time when I visit VA. In the BH Serpa holster it's a little harder, but I have a leather IWB holster that I usually wear. That with a loose fitting polo makes it fairly concealed. It's not very heavy, has a 10 round magazine, interchangeable backstraps... the one I got also had night sights :D

I used to carry a Colt Lightweight Commander back home.

Today, I probably would carry a polymer gun, either Glock or S&W M&P. Either 9mm or .45ACP.

I carry a M&P 45C daily here in MD for the past five years and love it. It is easy to conceal, light and still packs a punch. My duty weapon is a M&P 40 and the holster interchanges so I never have to swap rigs.

Whenever I'm out of MD, I carry my HK45 Compact in a Crossbreed Holster.

I'm a lefty, and it's a fully Ambi firearm. I'm also a big guy. I get absolutely no printing when I carry it at the 7-8 o'clock position.
