I've had really good luck with 4064 and 155 nosler customs out of my m1a and m1 Garand. I don't load either particularly hot, but neither rifle was intended to be used with hot ammo. I worked up a load to match the published data for the M2 in the garand and standard 7.62 NATO ammo for the m1a. It's nice as my rear sight has been pretty accurate when making adjustments for elevation in both rifles.

I use IMR-4895 for all my '06 jacketed bullet loads. I like the Sierra 165GK over a relatively light powder charge- 41 grains. It functions the M1, is accurate in the M1903A1 National Match rifle, comfortable to shoot in my two lightweight Mauser sporters (6½ pounds each)- which are positively brutal with factory loads. Accuracy is superb in all the guns (MOA and less), and the deer I've killed with the load never felt the difference in the loss of 6 grains or so of powder.

Don't get me started in describing the myriad of powder and cast bullet combos I use in the '06!

You got a favorite cast bullet load for the Garand?

I recommend the Dillon Super Swager 600 for mil crimped primer pockets.

Any of the powders mentioned will work great for hunting and your Garand.

And pretty much the same powder charge for the 168 SMK and the 165 Game King will work fine.

NOE 308-169 spitzer, cast at 15bhn, sized .309, 35gr. 4895. No leading, accuracy good as M2 ball, reliable cycling. 24gr. SR-4759 is more accurate but cycling is dodgy. I wouldn't go below 35 gr. 4895, it's still within the "60% rule" for that powder, but not by much.

New to reloading 30-06. Plan is to get a RCBS 2-die set and reload some RP cases and some CMP "HXP" brass.

Like to load 165g Nosler AccuBond for deer hunting (Remington 700).

Like to reload for M1 Garand plinking, not sure of the bullet.

I'm thinking IMR 4064 or 4895 for both.

Appreciate any advise/pitfalls to watch out for.

I've used 3030 and 4064 pretty exclusive for 15 years or so I my .06
Before you buy to many powders, try the 4064 1st. I have ALWAYS had the best performace with most any 150 grain bullets that all devistate dear.

State about 1 grain under max work backward at .2 or .3 grains until you get a 1 MOA or better at 100 yds.

    IMR IMR 4064
    .308"
    3.300"

    Start 47.0
    2,714
    48,700 PSI

    MAX 51.0
    2,926
    59,500 PSI

my best load on 150 bullets is 49.7 grains and make sure of trim brass length is all the same and COAL is all the same.
load 5 rounds for each work backward. It takes a few trips to the range as I work on trigger pull and breathing the most for best results.
