And yet they enforce Red Flag laws.....Just as every other County in Maryland does. They may say they are, but they aren't.

    Carroll Co.
Third county in Maryland, but first in the nation? Now that’s an impressive feat. LOL.

Although other jurisdictions had previously adopted legislation now characterized as creating Second Amendment sanctuaries, the Carroll County, Maryland Board of Commissioners is thought to be the first body to explicitly use the term "sanctuary" in its resolution on May 22, 2013[3] and Effingham County, Illinois County Board is thought to have to have popularized the term on April 16, 2018.

Claiming 2a sanctuary is nothing but a smoke and mirrors show. Unlike illegal immigrant sanctuary

It's a ( usually) County passing a resolution to declare themselves a 2A safe zone . A sort of parody of an Illegal Allien Sanctuary City .

Beyond a political gesture, it's ambiguous what if anything it does , beyond the absence of a current desire to go further anti gun by their initive.

As dblas points out , it never extends to refusing to serve a Red Flag .

County Councils have no control over elected States Attorney.

MSP is lead state agency for firearms .

What hypothetically could be in the power of a County Council :

Use their influence upon Apointed Police Chief to direct policy to the effect of not charging gun offenses as only charge against otherwise non criminals they encounter on their own .

Ask Police Chief to set policy to minimize dept cooperation with ATF , or MSP on gun specific cases

Direct zoning board / minor regulators to not give crap to people shooting safety on private property .

    Winfield/Taylorsville in Carroll
Well, it is better to live in some counties versus other counties when it comes to gun ownership. I would definitely pick Carroll over Montgomery, PG, or Howard. However, I don't believe there is any such "sanctuary" in the entire USA. When they do away with all the firearms laws in the country and free people are allowed to carry without applications, etc., then we have something. Until then, meh.
