Is the 29 OAL requirement with a stock/brace extended? I've searched and can't find an answer. I'm going to get a pistol upper kit with and want to make sure if the ATF rule coming in December that will make it a SBR, still will be legal in Maryland.

It's federal law to measure OAL with stock fully extended. MD law just added thr 29" aspect, but the manner of measurement is the same.

Gotcha. Thanks. I just looked up the dimensions for a PSA pistol kit and with the 11.5" barrel it came to 29". I've read a lot of guys saying 10.5" is usually the shortest that will get you to 29 with a normal adjustable stock/brace. I wish the OAL length info was more readily available.

The 29” thing will need to be addressed as well. There are factory, non-SBR guns coming in under 29”.

    A lawsuit for another day.
