Never seen a topic on these. Did a quick internet search and found nothing I found useful. What do you guys think or links I can use for research?
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!
Soft points in an AR-15 are usually not recommended, due to bullet tip deformation during cycling and the lead chips/smears that will eventually foul the rifle. They'll usually function for a while, but the hazard will eventually surface and the gun will either fail to feed or, if a chip gets into the fire control area, fail to fire.
Soft points are fine in a manually operated rifle, such as a bolt gun.
I use either hollow points or Nosler Ballistic Tips in the AR-15s if I want an expanding bullet. The match HPs may not always expand, but there are a lot of HPs designed as varmint bullets that offer explosive expansion at close ranges.
Thank you sir. How do you feel about the V-Max loads for putting down bad guys? Hornady TAP is so damn expensive.
What are you looking for in particular? Terminal ballistics, real world usage?
OP, are you asking for hunting purposes?
