I got out twice the first week and that was it. First day, we had a pair of mature toms come in to us. We only needed them to come another 10 or so yards. Then a hen walked right up to my partner and buggered the whole deal.

The second day, well that story I already told(post #30).

Not sure If I'll get out one more time this year. So it goes...

I consistently had 4-6 birds gobbling on roost every day (until this past weekend). But they get down and pretty much stop after 15-20 minutes. The positive is I have seen and heard more birds this year than in the entire 15 years Ive live here, which I think is part of it. They don't have to go far for hens
Hens also seem to be late nesting. Im years past we've had gobblers sounding off midday just looking for a hen. Not this year.

They have been hunted and go quiet now once on the ground. Now with a lot of the hens on nest
you may be able to strike up a frustrated Tom late in the morning. Good luck.

My domestic hen just hatched out THIRTEEN little baby turkeys, so I'm in no great need or desire to go out and search for more turkey meat. I think the most we've ever had before was seven.

At this point it's been ten days since I've heard a gobble or had a picture on a trail cam. It's like they all packed up and left.

    Congrats
I played cat and mouse with the same Tom 3 mornings in a row. Twice he was about 50 yards out but just out of sight. Once behind thick cover, once just over lip of a hill. He was the only bird I heard,so I was lucky to have one to play with. Im done for the season.
