I have been shopping for a new second camera for the upcoming season and I have not found anything that that catches my attention as far as "advancements" or "technology". All cameras seem to be the same and none of them seem to better than the next. Cameras seem to be very slow in innovations and technology. From what I see, you buy one and pray for the best. It seems all cameras have their own issues, so, I'm now shopping by price and not name for anything over 5 MP. Anything less than 5MP is just nasty.

As if things couldn't get any worse. I decided to install some fresh brand new Energizer batteries in my Moultrie D50 and what do I find ? The display is failing. Again I am victim of another Moultrie camera common issue. I wonder if anyone knows about this "hard reset" programing I keep reading about on the net. Seems lots of guys have done it, but, no one has interest in explaining how the process goes. Email to Moultrie has been sent. Phone will follow tomorrow.

Dunno if any of these work but its worth a shot....

    hard restart.
make sure camera is off. remove the sd card, remove the batteries. Turn the camera to the on position, this will drain all internals that hold memory. It takes about 3-5 minutes. Turn the camera off. install sd card and batteries. then turn unit back on.

also she said it is best to reformat the sd card before reinstalling. you need to reformat the sd card on a computer. basically right click and then left click on format.

According to Moultrie you can try a hard reset.
Take out batteries, and SD card, hold on button for 2 min.
Replace batteries and try, haven't tried it yet, but will

I will try these. I don't think they are gonna solve the display issue, but, I'll try it regardless.

I did buy a good condition, non-working, camera yesterday. It doesn't power on, but, the display is good. Worst case scenario is I use the display to fix mine or I end up repairing both of them. I've repaired a few of these cameras before and there's not much to them on the inside.

I don't honestly see what discharging the capacitors in the camera is going to do for proper function of these cameras, but, it sounds interesting from my electronics experience. Maybe the caps are over-charging and causing the camera to have issues, but, this "hard reset" sounds more like a "consumer pacification process" to me.

Didn't need a cam, but saw a nice 8 point in velvet sitting on someone's yard on Bel - Pre Road - calmly looking about -

Let me know anything about a hard reset. I have a Moultrie that the LcD display stopped working.
You have to remove the LCD, heat the contacts with a hairdryer, them rub them down with a rounded tool. I used the handle end of a toothbrush. There are YouTube videos for how to fix an LCD display. The one I recall was for a wireless phone.

I fixed two, then something else broke on one of the units. I ended up buying new cameras made by Bushnell.

cool pics! These are my first turkey chick pics in 5yrs of using game cameras....

my cameras do that too...Ive noticed its when the camera's fire off the infrared bulbs when there is a little too much light...dusk or dawn...then they wash out the pics.
