  • For my first post in this group I thought I'd show an awesome piece I picked up last year. Still need to get my C&R license but figured this group would appreciate my acquisition. Picked this up from On Target on consignment for far below appraisal value. All original parts except for the sling. Enjoy

I don't think it's worth the 1,800 price tag. It has all the signs of being a rebuilt rifle and, unless it was a sniper variant, the market isn't that high by far. I'd say it's worth a couple hundred less.

Nothing wrong with not entertaining silly offers, but I would not include all original parts in my description. Correct 03's are not found very often. Just so a potential buyer is not mislead for what is being represented. Just keep in mind someone that knows what they're looking at will offer you substantially less. A shooter grade like you have should go for about 650 to 700 these days.

Handguard looks to be a WWII replacement Booher (convex top), not a Remington high hump (concave top).

Does the stock have any cartouches? If it's a Remington grasping groove stock, those are rare. How's the stock to barrel fit at the nose?

There is a cartouche in front of the trigger guard, I could not be certain as to what it is. I'll take a look again and post what I can find. And I'll let you know about the barrel to stock fit

But no "RLB" behind the magazine cutoff on the front of the wrist?

There is no RLB...sadly. the cartouche just behind the trigger guard is "58" with a capital "P" just below it. There is a very small amount of horizontal movement with the top of the stock at the nose, bottom side no movement. There are R stamps as you see below.

One thing I did not notice before is the bolt handle has "CC" imprinted.

Well unfortunately I was not knowledgeable enough to know what to look for about original parts. When I found it on the wall at the range I was too blinded to really pay attention and took the seller to his word.

And I more so meant silly offers as in $400 or something to that effect

Still a nice rifle, I would keep it and see how well it shoots. Everybody gets excited at one time or another and grabs something quick I've got piles of stuff to prove it. If your not interested in it I bet it wont last long. My problem is I wont let anything go. cc means commercial controls, P in a square should mean a rebuild which is over top of the original circled P which is the original proof mark.

Yeah there is something underneath it. I've already got a buyer for it but for less, which is fine for me

I would agree it's priced about $1,000 over market value.
