I found this rifle at a local shop last week.
    K98, Mauser AG Borsigwalde, 1938
It has Imperial Eagles on the left side of the receiver, Nazi marks on the right.
All numbers match except for the bolt. All bolt numbers match.
The bore is in decent shape, dark but without pitting. The wood looks to be in decent shape as well.
Anyone know how often you find Imperial and Nazi markings on the receiver?
Any info from the C&R community would be appreciated...
    Thanks

Those aren't imperial eagles, but Weimar style eagles. From what I've read in the past, that was around the transition period.

But yes, you can find imperial era markings on Nazi era guns. The German army and the SS were constantly at each others throats for equipment, so the SS sometimes had to procure their own weapons. Some of the SS K98's were built by converting older Gew98's and Kar98b's (post-WWI Gew98 with a flat sight, sometimes made from Gew98's).

I'm clueless on these but that wood is awesome. Is the metal finish on these commonly that dark?
