Back to the basics, OK this is not all slick and sexy like these modern ones but I was happy to find this DGFM Sistema Colt Modelo 1927 made for the Argentine Air Force. The vast majority of the 4285 Aeronautica pistols went through a refurb process in the 1970's and were parkerized so finding one like this with the original finish is a big plus. This one was part of a 500 pistol shipment on 08 Feb 1956.

Found this not too far from home, got it out of jail today. Old school “softball” bulleye pistol. I saw it in the case, asked to see it, looked it over, asked how much and didn’t even haggle on price. I shot it. Needs tuning but enjoy adding it to the stable.

Dumb question :o : What's the purpose of the rail for the sights? I've seen some that are used to give a longer sight radius (and I get that), but that one only seems to gain 3/4 of an inch at most

Some of it is weight. Keeps the muzzle down. This changes the recoil and mainspring for e. This pistol had a 16.5 pound recoil spring in it. I am surprised it cycled 100% with the midrange ammo I was shooting. I changed both springs given the extra mass on the slide. Sorta like a comp gun.

Now its just try it out in a test drive.
