I have the standard barrel and would like to get it threaded.

Anyone in somd do good work? Or anyone have other recommendations?

If your just looking to throw a flash-hider on, you can thread it yourself.

If your looking to go suppressed, seek a gunsmith - if you can live with the drive uptown and have patience, Scott's in Glen Burnie does top-shelf work.

    I want it suppressed!

What do you mean about patience? Glenn Burnie is a bit more then I would want to drive just to drop a barrel off and then go back home, but it is an option...

Great work typically means a backlog, and Scott's normally always has more than enough work to go around.

But if you want it done right, it's one of the top 'go-to' places in MD.

If you want it done quicker, I think you can just send it off to ADCO.

ETA: I drive 70+ miles each way, and still never hesitate to have work done there.

I wanted my 15-22 threaded as well. Was getting quotes like $200 to thread it, so I just went ahead and order another 15-22 that was threaded from the factory for $360. :)

Maybe I'll thread the other one in the future if the price is decent.

    * Just want to clarify, the IP's here did not quote that price - but they were backlogged. *

Thats one way to do it to!

But I think I can wait for a bit because I haven't started paperwork on a suppressor yet anyway, so I am sure the barrel will be back before I actually get the suppressor in hand.

Did you get a quote from the IPs? Would you mind sharing, maybe send me a PM?

I might ship it to ADCO, but I think I will give the IPs a call first just to see...

Same 1/2 x 28. As stated, if it's for a can, concentric threading is critical. Take it to a smith

Good info, but I have a few questions

1)Is this something that you need to specify with the smith or is this standard for them?

    2)Does it cost extra?

3)Is the reason for this to prevent baffle strikes?

Normally no. Smiths have training and equipment to do this properly

    2)Does it cost extra?

    Not to my knowledge

3)Is the reason for this to prevent baffle strikes?

    YES

Any good smith will make SURE the threading is concentric to the BORE. Which is important to prevent baffle or brake strikes.

That is why you pay the price to a good smith to do this work. It is included in the price.

You DO need to specify what thread you want. But they will MOST LIKELY thread a rimfire to 1/2-28.

Interesting reference for common barrel threads:
