I found a cherry SIG SHR at Cabelas in Hamburg. Knowing that this rifle is no longer sold in the US I started looking for spare magazines. Found them online, so I bought 4 spare for the future.

Hmm - I only have one mag for my Savage 10 - guess I better get with the program.

    Center-feed (4.40" spacing) or stagger-feed (4.25" spacing)?

I have an extra stagger-feed box, spring and follower sitting around. And I may be parting ways with a B&C A5 stock in the near future (4.40" spacing center-feed).

    Don't know - how can I tell?

[Edit] It has the plastic front latch.

The 2 screws in the bottom of the stock (those are the action screws, holds the barreled action to the stock), measure the distance between them.

4.40" would be a center-feed magazine style, 4.25" would be the older stagger-feed magazine style.

You already have a drop/detachable magazine? 10 series should be an internal (blind) magazine.

This is it, and the rifle below.

I have at least 3 mags for every bolt gun I own. My R700 uses the same mags as my AR10, so I'm good to go there. I always take 2 into the field or range and I like to have at least 1 backup. It's just a personal preference, that if I'm in the field I want to have a mag handy just in case. I don't like to fiddle around trying to load another mag when I'm faced with taking down Bigfoot or some other mystical creature.

EDIT: I only have 2 mags for my 50 bmg Safety Harbor SHTF bolt action rifle.

The 10rnd mags for my Savage 11 Scout are stupid expensive ($70), and that's when you can find them. Must be nice making 600% profit on a piece of stamped metal. That said, I only have 4.

My Arsenal 106 mags will run you $50 for 30 round Bulgarian AK74 5.56 mags.

Try to find them, they are very difficult to find. Even the Polish version will run you $40 or more.

Luckily the guy who sold me the rifle has sold me 10 mags for a lot less and he's willing to sell me more of them for the same price.

I don't buy extra's since I just have C&R Bolt guns. But if I got a modern bolt gun that would fit in the Magpul Hunter stock, I would have two 5 rounders and two 10 rounders of the magpul magazines.

Recently bought a Mdl 700 LR in .300 WinMag, and ordered a Magpul Hunter stock for it, along with MagPul "bottom metal". It came with one magazine.

I ordered 4 extra magazines, which either got lost in the mail, or stolen, en route.

Midway USA refunded the $$$ and told me that the magazines are now less than what I paid for them.
Re-ordered, yesterday, and got 5 magazines on order, with none of that UPS to USPS 'hand off'. :)

Magpul Hunter stock for Mdl 700 SPS AAC-SD -
    I've got 5 Magpul 5 round magazines, and 5 10 round magazines.

Why????? Just in case there's another magazine ban, I don't want to drive across the river to pick some up.

The Magpul AICS-pattern mags are great, feed smoother than the genuine AICS mags, and for less than half the cost.

Do have to make a small clearance cut for them to seat/fit properly in a Savage receiver, but it's an easy mod that seems to have 0 effect on the functionality of the magazines.

In the 4.5 hours on the range today, 0 issues with feeding.
