I have a collection dating back about 10 years including one Viking style sword, a couple of Bearded Axes both long hafted and short hafted, one ancient Ottoman Turkish axe and shield, and a few modern interpretations. I have a Damascus (pattern welded) hand axe and dagger in the mail as we speak.
The Viking longsword came fully sharpened from the maker and I have been known to use it to chop down thistles and such on occasion. At 68 my blows no longer have the power they did when I was in Dagorhir and SCA in the 70's and 80's (or MA for 20 years). I was in the original chapter of Dagorhir (and Advanced Dagorhir, the one that included acting out stories) as a Jomviking berserker, my primary weapon being the two-handed Dane axe.

I just looked at the Latvian axes and I have to say the Baltic and Viking battle axes are definitely top tier in both quality and historical reproduction. I may have to order one myself.

I love watching Forged in Fire and one recent episode they had to make a Kukri. Pretty awesome...
