If the debate provides evidence that the intent of the mga was and is to exclude self defense as a G&S. Then you hand Frosh a layup for the court. Personally I prefer not to do that,if I can avoid it.

As it is the burden is on Frosh to show that he Gov is exceeding his authority..

A debate which rejected a bill to allow Self defense, would, just like the removal of the live fire requirement for the HQL, have significant bearing. That it was offered at all is an indication that self defense was not envisioned..
Now if its rejected as unnecessary then its neutral.. I sure think its unnecessary ...I bet lots of others think its not necessary..

Of course Frosh may not care to fight.

If that is their intent, then they need to codify it in law, anything else is just conjecture. If it's not codified, then intent has no bearing on what the Governor can do administratively (for reference, see the 1 shot rule in the HQL)

I am finding it hard to understand why we the people expect those the elected to do something they have never done before.....stand up for the people of this state. The republicans were out there pounding there chest and banging there symbols and the democrats were laughing at the show when we were hollering over 281.
We now have a republican Govener and a few more republican officials and they all knew this legislative session was coming and only two wrote any legislation to help the people. None of the republicans are getting out there to try and rally's support and where are WE THE PEOPLE. You really think a weak showing at a one day rally will make a difference ? Why haven't you picked up the pen. Yes an actual ink pen and send a real letter and made phone calls? To busy or just think it's a waste of time?

I am surprised Vallario's bill doesn't have more Republican cosponsors. I need to read it again with a close eye but on my superficial read I would think libertarian minded conservatives have a lot to like. It seems to shift the burden of proof back to the state, prevent property from essentially being stolen and make law enforcement a bit more accountable. I like the updates to the various property confiscation clauses.

No new bills as of yet (we're at 20 altogether).

I encourage everyone to take note of what's on the table so far and speak with their representatives about them.
