Of the $27.8 Billion spent each year on firearms, ammunition, clothing, reloading equipment, optics, and accessories by the American public, only about 7-8% of all gun owners reload their own ammunition on a regular basis. This means that only a relatively small amount of people purchase black powder explosives each year, and in comparison to other flammable, explosive, and dangerous household products such as fertilizer and gasoline, the singling out of black powder for stricter regulation bears little statistical evidence that its use in criminal activity is widespread.

Reloaders use smokeless propellant, which is flammable.

Muzzleloaders use black powder, a low explosive.

What was used in the Boston bombs? I would like to know. The signal-to-noise ratio in the reporting is so bad, all I know is they used pressure cookers. What explosive was used?

Okay, police reported these guys had "military grade" explosives and at some point, the police did a controlled detonation of something.

WTF would a bomber with .mil grade explosives choose to use BP?

This is more rules for rad-dick-cules crap about never letting a crisis go to waste. I can't wait to add to the unemployment rolls by getting rid of a bunch of these like minded aholes in November.

Black Powder and smokeless propellant are bulky, inefficient explosives compared to modern HE's, and in any case, a complete ban on them wouldn't accomplish much since it's easy to manufacture BP from scratch.

It would be like banning fuel oil because someone made a bomb with it, while kerosene, diesel fuel, and gasoline were still widely available.

Senator Lautenberg seams to make no distinction between black powder (explosive), and smokeless powder (Not explosive). It's likely he does not know or care about the difference, and would simply outlaw both.

Ban fertilizer, fuel oil, gasoline, propane. Clean sweep.

We can all freeze in the dark together, except for the guys with the stone axes.

Only the military and police should have stone axes.

If they can't ban the gun then their go after everything else. No bullets no crime. You can have the gun to protect yourself but only in your house and you can only throw it at the crooks. Less lethal that way.
