We have a beautiful one of a kind engraved Ithaca Gun Company LLC- Colt Contracted 1911 A1 .45ACP SN#:125****. This is an Ithaca Produced 1911, manufactured in 1943, during the 2nd run. This 1911 features highly polished real, natural Ivory grips in excellent condition. The slide and frame on this 1911 is 100% Engraved, blued finish. The engraving was done by Kurt Jager of Mainz Germany in the early 1960's. The gold inlay on the lettering highlights the M-Sgt. R. J. Dunn on the left side of the pistol, as well as the MAAG Airborne 1960 Germany on the other side. MAAG, is and acronym for Military Assistance Advisory Group. The barrel is 5 inches long produced by High Standard, with great rifling for a war time 1911. The slide has good an positive lock up and functions well, with a good fit. The trigger is checkered, and the sights are the original patridge sights.(rectangular notch rear sight, square post front sight) Comparables are scarce however Rock Island Auctions, 12-4-2015 sold one in very close style and condition. The appraised value was $9,500-$16,000, and sold for $8,625. Due to limited provenance and the nature of the gold inlay the sale price is close to the value of this gun.
