Realizing this Forum has plenty of info on ARs of different calibers I still have questions.

I have found the following threads.

I have many questions, but I'll keep it simple at this point,
1, My DPMS style lower seems to need a longer Take Down Spring and Detent. Have you had this problem and dealt with it?
2, What upper will fit? PSA is cheap, what the heck is the real deal with the different GENs?

I bought my lower and upper from Daytona Tactical, Seems to have come with a AR15 LPK, The upper fits fine, but I want another upper...
Advice and direction is more than welcome.

I’m currently building an AR10. I decided on an Aero Precision upper and lower receiver set and lower parts kit minus pistol grip and fcg. I’m still comparing some of the other parts. Right Now I’m thinking either a NB coated BCG from POF or Lantac to mate with a 20” barrel from either Black Whole Weaponry or Ballistic Advantage. I’m interested to see what everyone else comes up with.

I’m not a builder of AR’s, but I have swapped out parts from pre-built ones a few times. From my readings here on MDS I understand that there are parts that are referred to as “DPMS pattern”, as I’m sure you’ve seen Mil-Spec and Commercial. This as I gather means that many, if not all DPMS parts are not 100% compatible with other manufacturers’ parts, possibly proprietary(??). I just bought a DPMS LR-SASS .308, which is essentially their top of the line tricked out “AR-10”, so I’m not planning on swapping anything, at least yet (future maybe). This may be why your parts seem a bit off. No doubt Clandestine or others with way more knowledge than me on the subject will shoot you straighter than I have, but this is my $.02.

There are multiple standards for the AR-10 world. The DPMS Pattern is the easiest route to go, because you can utilize a lot of AR15 parts in the build, like the buffer tube, trigger, pistol grip, gas system, and some other things. I am slowly building an Aero Precision M5 (DPMS Pattern) 308 for longer range shooting.

    1. The AR10 requires longer takedown pins in general, no matter what pattern it is.
    2. Call Daytona Tactical and find out what pattern or standard they are using. Then with that information, you can look for a new upper in that standard.

Also try some quick research. A lot of manufacturers will list what us standard and what isn’t. One thing I like about the aero precision 308 stuff is it took me 5 minutes if searching and I found a list of parts compatibility. And they come with a threaded bolt stop pin included.

Talk about going from one end of the spectrum to the other with barrels. I can't hate though, I built my first AR10 with a BA barrel and had no complaints.
I'd also skip the expense of the NB and just get a standard phosphate bolt.

Back to the OP yes you'll need larger take down pins and longer springs for the detent. If its a DMPS pattern the PSA upper will fit.

I build a dpms pattern rifle from a aero Precision M5e1 builders kit. I used a aero Precision lpk because the pivot pin is a little longer to fit the AP lower. I did a lot of research before putting this rifle together so ask away I would be happy to help you along. I used JP enterprise barrel, bolt carrier and buffer. It’s a little on the expensive side but I couldn’t be happier with the way it shoots.

This is the first 100 yard 5 shot group I fired with 150grn hunting ammo

Thanks for input. Nice shooting as well. Please keep advice coming.
I am worried that if I would buy a PSA upper it wouldn't fit my DPMS style lower.
    So I still wonder.
