    I can vouch for 3rd and Canuck. Both are good guys.

    I will also say that it is great to be not involved in a thread (for once) that is circling the drain.

    Well it just proves that the AR platform is more effective than any other. It's got more dog kills in Md than any other service rifle.:innocent0

    The SOCOM version of the M4 (M4A1) has a heavier barrel and is designed to be fired on full auto. This is the heavier barrel the above editorial was refering to.

    Army tests showed that the standard M4 barrel eroded and warped after 540 rounds were fired in 2 min and 28 seconds

    But the 5oz heavier M4A1 barrel was able to shoot 930 rounds in 4 min and 30 seconds with out any barrel damage, durring that test the heat sheild was the lim-fac, it was melted durring the test.
