HR 38 is still languishing in the "House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations"

Sadly, I think it's starting to feel like this bill will die in committee.

Even with a republican majority house and senate, and president, no one wants to make this a priority. They're not willing to burn political capital for it. I think exactly the same outcome is in store for the "Hearing Protection Act of 2017".

I am not so sure - we have also never had a pro 2a president like this one.

Look at what the Republicans did with Repeal of Obamacare! For all those years, they passed the repeal of Obamacare knowing Obama would not sign it.

The Republicans do not have the political will to do what is right for the American people. They would rather stick to spewing to hyperbole, than owning legislation.

Not even similar! There was never a good way out of Obamacare. There is NO good answer for that socialist fiasco.

This bill is easy, it is already guaranteed in the Constitution, health care is not. Look at all of the other powder keg stuff that has gotten done albeit most by Trump with no help....

    Both are powder kegs.

Progressives need for the commoners to be disarmed, State first!

and don't worry about that living document called the Constitution. :sarcasm:

No, legally armed citizens won't put LE at risk . CCW holders are extremely law abiding, and won't felonously attack LE . The criminal element inclined to attack LE already carry illegally .

In the larger sense , increased legal carry results in either no effect , or reduction of overall Violent Crime rates, often resulting in safer environment for LE .

Don't worry the republicans won't allow common sense like that to get off their hands and pass anything.

Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are huge disappointments. The permanent bi-partisan fusion party is a huge disappointment to the American people; but they are quite good at wielding nearly absolute power for their personal benefit and the benefit of their money masters/friends.

Agreed, the Democrats might as well still hold both the House and Senate. These two aren't even trying to reach for low hanging fruit. :sad20:

not very encouraging and the WH petition is not setting the world on fire either

    sad

FWIW, I not only signed the petition but also emailed the President about it. I was even trying to call in to the Larry O'Connor show on WMAL yesterday to give the bill some airtime, but I was on hold for over sixteen minutes before they moved to another topic. The question posed to callers was something along the lines of "Do you think Mitch McConnell is 'doing enough' to advance the Republican agenda in Congress?" in light of recent hostile comments made towards President Trump by Senator McConnell; to which my response would've been "hell no, certainly not even in the slightest, Congress could at least take the time to uphold the US Constitution and defend our 2nd Amendment rights by passing H.R. 38 and S.446, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017... after all why would we even bother voting Republican otherwise?"

I'm going full-throttle on social media in the comments section of major news sources and on my own timeline posts trying to raise awareness about the CCCRA. I wish there was a more effective way to help the cause, I know everyone's always big on donating money and I would if I had any. I'm pretty much strapped for cash though, most of my paycheck goes towards supporting my family by paying for our rent, the car insurance, gas, our share of the utilities bill, and groceries. If I pick up overtime hours at work I can afford ammo for my M1 Carbine and parts for my AR project but we're fully staffed and it's tough to get anything more than 40 hours. :sad20: Since our son was born I've let my other hobbies (building my home audio system and enjoying a fine hand-rolled cigar from time to time) fall by the wayside, if I can get a better paying job maybe I can enjoy them again someday.

In the meantime, I've managed to squirrel enough money aside for one year memberships with the NRA, the MDSRPA, and MSI. I hope my modest contribution helps, and if I ever end up with a major windfall, MSI is in for a big payday. Even a career upgrade would let me contribute more $$$$ to the fight. In the meantime, I'll make damn sure everyone I know is aware of how important this bill is and how much we need to make our voices heard with our congressmen! I wanna do as much as I can to help with all I've got.
