I just picked these two new Colts up from the Gettysburg show last weekend...an Ultimate Cobra and a new King Cobra. The Cobra was already $200 less than MSRP and the dealer took another $150 for buying both. I don't think I was going to find that deal again anytime soon so I scooped them up and South Carroll Sporting Goods handled the Maryland transfer for me...shout out to Brian!

I know there are Colts with the high polish finish that are aftermarket which concerned me. I asked to see the box and it was correctly labeled and I used the bar code reader app on my cell phone to check the codes and it was correct...counterfeits have bar codes of gibberish.

I'm not a fan of the original grips on both revolvers...the Hogues on the King Cobra don't fit my hand plus I don't like finger-groover grips and the wood stocks on the Cobra look great but don't feel comfortable in my hand. I replaced them with Pachmayrs which I like the feel of better. I have Pachmayr Compacs on some other Colt snubbies I have and like the consistency in feel. Very happy with two first-class revolvers made for personal defense...just love handguns with the pony on them.

I still haven't gotten around to swapping out the Pachmayrs to the wood grips you sold me on my Trooper :o With that said, I like the original wood grips on my first gen Cobra. The grips on the new ones make them harder to conceal, and I have no problems shooting with the originals.

All bought new. All have action work done. The Security Six and Redhawk have Clark rear sights. They all shoot.

The Security Six is 40 years in my possession next month. Over 20 K through it. That is the third barrel on this revolver. Shot out the first one after needing to set it back twice. I didn't care for the replacement 4" barrel.
Bought less than a year later, Super Blackhawk is 39 years in my possession (hey, it is a 44 Magnum). Thousands of rounds through it.
The Redhawk, favorite of all revolvers, was bought around 1985, over 10k rounds through it, too.

Pic of the Clark sights and range adjustment marks on sights.

Just brought this home today...a 1938 era Colt Officers Model Target in .22LR. I found it at the Gettysburg show a couple of weeks ago. It's in super nice condition...far better than on would expect for its vintage.

I'd love to find a set of those target stocks for my Security Six....I have the factory woods, but they are really small and not too comfortable shooting magnum loads.

I went through several sets of stocks before I found those a few years ago. I mean a couple decades. They were expensive for my wallet when they first came out or not in stock. They do change the character of the pistol. The stock set, as you said, are very small.

Ironically, the stock Redhawk grips suit me well, just not as well as the modified Uncle Mike's you see there. Plus, in cold weather shooting, the wood stocks and the lack of a filler behind the trigger guard gives one a cold hand swat from recoil. I don't care for using gloves so I really do look for cold weather grip efficiency.

I just picked up this Colt Cobra...had no real desire for it but the deal was simply too good to pass...it was on Gunbroker and I gave it a real lowball bid. I expected to be outbid but ended up winning it. It came with the original front sight plus a tritium sight already installed, an extra set of grips, several speed loaders, speed loader holders and a holster. I don't like the Hogue grips that it came with nor the Altamont wood grips so I put a set of Pachmayr Compacs I had on it...much better feel to me.

Here's the Cobra's near cousins...Colt Agents. The only substantive difference is the name on the barrel and shorter grips for better concealment...

My S&W Model 14 .38 Spl. with my newly purchased Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum. I just finished installing Tritium 3-dot night sights.
And yes, I like Hogue grips.

    Darn it. Upside down.
