On your original picture, right click on mouse and it should bring up a menu.

Find rotation right and rotation left.

Select one using left click on mouse. If you need to move it 90 degrees more, select it again.

When you hit save, it will store the orientation correctly.

What date is on it? If it's 1945, it's gold.

You got a great deal on the M38 Brickman301. Nice find.

I'm almost as intrigued by the old stand-up radio (?) it's leaning against in your pic. Looks almost the same vintage as the Mosin... Cool pair!

    :)

J8064, yes it's a old console radio. It's a 1933 RCA, it picks up AM and shortwave. My father and I restored it a few years ago together. It works and sounds great. I listen to it occasionally, the atmosphere is much better in the winter for shortwave listening. Music sounds great out of the old tube radios, much better than the radios today. Sadly a.m. radio doesn't play much music anymore. Collecting old radios is another hobby of mine, although I don't mess with them nearly as much as I used to

Once the M44 was put into full time production (1944), M38s were issued with M44 stocks. The Russians weren't going to make two different carbine stocks.
This makes the M44 stock correct on 1944 and 1945 M38s.
Once the post war refurb program started, there was no rhyme or reason to which stock the actions were placed in. So either stock is correct for a refurb.

I got one for you, non import marked 1943 m38 refurb mark on the stock. M38 stock, not laminate but with pressed escutcheons. Stock is heavily arsenal repaired.
