    Goodbye MD, Hello freedom
2011 is a double stack 1911, so greater magazine capacity but comes with a wider grip.

i have sti steel master (2011) in 9mm and really like it.

9mm has been the way I'm leaning. Ill keep my current and future single-stack 1911 purchases to .45. But a 9mm in this platform has me quite intrigued. One thing I really enjoyed was that more of my hand was in contact with the checkering. Personally, the more (and more aggressive), the better. The mags sure as hell aren't cheap though. Damn, $60 for STI mags...I guess they're trying to beat out HK.

I have a Marvel custom 2011 that is just an amazing shooter. It is set up as a limited gun if I wanted to compete. I will agree that a custom STI gets very expensive. This is the one gun though that everyone sees at the range and wants to shoot. I have medium size hands so I had Bob grind down the grip for me so it is the perfect size.
