What do you all think of MTM watches? Worth dropping a grand on one?

I've never heard of them, I looked briefly and personally no I wouldn't. But I like mechanical watches. I have a digital watch for running, don't really need something "rugged". Though many mechanical watches are built to be "tool" watches and can handle abuse.

The "Black Silencer" I looked at only has 330' of water resistance. My $190 Seiko has 200M. And it doesn't need a new battery every few months, etc.

Seems like a lot for what a decent Gshock could get you at a quarter (or less) of the price. Just my opinion.

If you want a rugged watch it's hard to beat the low end $40-Ish G-Shock. It will take more abuse than your wrist will and if it gets too beat up it's easily replaced.

I have an SKX 007 that the previous owner said he used on two tours in Afghanistan. It's none the worse for wear. A few scratches but still keeps good time and looks presentable.

I like the looks of the MTM watches, but I think they are overpriced. For a lot less you can get a Marathon or Deep Blue.

Great point, I'm not a big fan of deep blue as I find them a little boring I guess you could say? But their reliability and quality is highly spoken for.

I'd recommend anyone interested in watches to branch out to the WatchUseek forum (also on Tapatalk).

Excellent watch. Valjoux 7750 is an excellent movement too. I have an old Movado chrono with that movement. A cut above most of the more common Swiss auto chronos.

I have two Deep Blue autos (not chronos) with higher end Citizen 9015 movements. Both accurate to about 2 seconds a day. That's impressive for an auto.
