You'll love it! I had been eyeing that one myself but I couldn't justify having two. You got a really good deal on that. Congrats!

    Thanks!

I handled a brass Henry lever gun at 2A Sales & Supply the other day - wow that thing was nice. Work of art really; smooth as butter.

It really is a work of art. You should definitely get it. You just don't find American quality like this anymore. It's like old world craftsmanship.

Just picked up a 1976 Marlin 336 in 30-30 today. For my 16 year old sons first real rifle!!! Beautiful rifle. Will sight in on Saturday when I'm RSO at my local gun club!!!

    Just my preferences:

    - Tube feed better than magazines (for plinking/hunting guns); mags for competition and defense.

    - open sights better than scopes or reflex (reddot) sights. Exception for long range hunting, or eyesight issues, also some competition applications.

    - adjustable stock because shooting is a social sport and people have different sizes. Exception for dedicated rifles.

    - pistol grip on rifle better, more maneuverable, comfortable. Feels more natural to me because I am primarily a pistol shooter and have been shooting AR's (M16/M4) for decades. Pistol grip preferred even on a shotgun.

    - lever thumb safety, push down (AR type), better than push button type. Slide type on top of receiver (I.e. mossberg) are about the worst.

    - threaded barrels preferred, even if you don't own a sound suppressor. Gives more options.

    - synthetic over wood; my guns are tools, I find plastics more durable. Exception: some wood guns are works of art, but must be babied. Even laminates can be gorgeous.

    - I prefer military calibers (5.56, 7.62x51, 9mm) over hunting calibers (.243, 7mm, 30-30). I shoot more than most hunters and military calibers are usually cheaper and much more plentiful.

    - semi, revolver, lever, bolt, in that order.

My 82 year old father gave me his Md.94 that he got new in 1952 and had a new weaver scope put on it back then. Sweet!! He killed lots of Deer with it.

Very clean. Good manufacturing period for Winchester too. Father-to-kid hand down means much, I'm sure. Look forward to eventually doing this with my kids. Hopefully they will like levers.

Only have 1 lever rifle, a pass-down from my dad.

Marlin 336CS 30-30, standard blue and wood. Looks like any other 336 out there. :)
