I know I'm getting older, but I could have sworn Hodgdon had recommended H110 loads for 458socom on their website back in 2019 when I started loading for that round. I just checked their website app today, to get a sanity check, and H110 isn't on their list of powders for 458socom.

My duck duck fu has turned up a few older threads on H110 and berrys 350gr 45/70 projectiles, but I wanted to see if anyone had any addition load data that I can compare. (The free Sierra app lists H110/W296 as valid, but Sierra only makes a 300gr .458 projectile, so thats the only one listed)

I found a thread or two with positive results for H110. This is for the lighter bullets weights (300-350 grainers). Judging from the load data most powders are slower than H110, probably be ause if the case capacity and length.

Barnes shows use for it. Nosler’s fastest powder listed for 458 Socom is 4227, which also yields the fastest velocity. Good powder, accurate in 44 Mag but too slow to yield good 44 Mag velocities. H110 gave me up to 1508 fps average velocity in 44 Mag.

H110/296 uses in 458 SOCOM are mostly listed for the lighter 300 grain bullets, with 350 typically the heaviest. In most load data H110 use falls off once bullet weight gets close to 400 grains. Not a good time for shopping powder, but a slightly slower powder would be on my shopping list. My concern would be developing the load with H110 now then grabbing a box and shooting it in hot weather. In my experience H110 is stable even when driven hard so that is a good characteristic. But I never drove it THAT hard. It is on its thresh hold in the light bullet 458 SOCOM application.

From the AR15 link they show MAX load data for H110/W296 for both 300gr and 405gr, so I gotta believe 350gr gotta be working somewhere in there..

    thanks
