Carroll County, my home county, is mostly republican. If it came down to County sheriffs being the issuing authority I think we have a pretty good chance. You Montgomery County and PG county folk are screwed though.

It would be in the sheriff's interest to be in contact with some of the groups that he will need support from for such a bill :innocent0

Ok I sent the good Sheriff another note letting him know about HB332, Riley's upcoming bill and the marylandshallissue.org site.

Maryland Handgun Clearance, My E-mail To Sheriff Bane (Harford County)

I strongly suggest that all my fellow Harford Countians follow me up!
    Harford County Sheriff,
    Jesse Bane,

Title: Frederick County Sheriff Charles Jenkins wants to issue CCCs

    Dear Sheriff Bane,
I don't know if your aware that Frederick County Sheriff Charles Jenkins voiced his advocacy for Maryland's Sheriffs to be granted the task of issuing Concealed Carry Clearances as opposed to the MSP.
I for one and many more of your constituents support such a proposal!

I would suspect his plan may some what mirror Pennsylvania's Law. We very much favor an Elected Office not political hacks in conducting this government function.
We hope you will support this concept concerning this issue. But before we give our blessing I'm sure you like us will need all the details!
    Best Regards,

I sent my letter. I hope it works.

It probably won't go anywhere this session. It's too late for submission and the legislative efforts of the gun groups are focused elsewhere now that the session is in the busy part of the season.

I was getting ready to type the same thing, and add Baltimore County. Maryland would become "California East" for CC.

I'm not suggesting to cease this effort at the Frederick & Harford County(s) Lines! I would think we have members here from all 23 and Baltimore City ;)

    Still no word from him.

The sheriff's association has to have unanimous approval on this before they will endorse it anyway from what I understand.

those counties can then prove as fodder for our cause as their crime rates drop or at the least don't turn into the wild west like the brady bunch claims will happen

In Carroll County there is NOT a good chance.

The current Sheriff first ran as a Democrat. He lost the election, so he changed party's just to win. A wolf in sheeps clothing so to speak.

I wouldnt trust the current Sheriff to be Pro Gun.
